The Langenheims are responsible for the commercial publication of the first American Stereographs. Darrah (1977, page 21) states that "card views were also produced in 1854, the earliest issue having small square images framed in gold." The following salt-print stereoview is from this series, the earliest American, paper, commercially issued Stereoview series produced in the United States. It is copyright 1854 by F. Langenheim.
