PH65. [T.J. Trapp]. This view shows T.J. Trapp's Photograph Gallery. There
is a large sign on the building as well as well as a sign on a kiosk on the
street. There appears to be a photo display hung by one of the upstairs windows.

banner for "E.S. Wormell's Ferrotype Gallery, Good Pictures Low Prices." On back
is written "Looking down Craven Street in New-Berne, N.C. with snow upon the

PH70. [E&HT Anthony], not labeled. This image shows the store and production
facilities of T. Tugby, Niagara Falls. On one of the signs one can make out most
of "Stereoscopic View Manufactory." In the Treadwell & Darrah book,
Stereographers of the World Volume II -- US, there is a listing
for Tugby that reads :"Babbit & Tugby (NY). Then if you go to Babbit, there is a
listing for "Babbit & Tugby." Tugby is referenced as having "Timothy Tugby's
Stereoscopic Emporium." Babbit & Tugby are stated as producing many fine glass
views of Niagara and the surrounding area , a few of Canada, etc., - -
"apparently didn't produce paper prints." (Thanks to Len Walle for this). VG.

PH72. D. Appleton & Co., NY. Interior of the D. Appleton & Co. store at 443
& 445 Broadway, NY. While this view has no back label, I have copied the back
label from another copy of this view in my collection. The label reads
"Stereoscopes and Views. D. Appleton & Col, in removing to their New Store, 443
& 445 Broadway, New York, Would beg to direct especial attention to their
extensive assortment of Stereoscopes and Stereoscopic Slides, Which are selected
by their Agents in London and Paris, as they issue from the respective
manufacturers, thereby securing a constant succession of Novelties by every
Steamer from Europe." This is a fabulous view with hundreds of Brewster viewers
on the shelves, Beckers viewers as well, advertisement for views of the Moon,
etc., from one of the early, important American makers and distributors. Tinted.

York Stereoscopic Co. mount and the title on verso is "View of the Grand Canal,
Venice." Obviously not so. This is a variant view of PH64 above. Tinted. G. $600


PH75. Timothy O'Sullivan. Wheeler Expedition of 1874. No. 43. Characteristic
ruin, of the Pueblo San Juan, New Mexico, on the north bank of the San Juan
River, about 15 miles west of the mouth of Canon Largo. The present race of
Indians know nothing of when or by whom these buildings were constructed. The
ruin is about 350 feet square, and built of natural stone, joined together by a
mild cement. Image shows O'Sullivan with his large format camera. VG. $375

E.B. Nock. One can see a small figure with a camera on the top deck at the rear
