Anonymous Amputee at a Sewing Machine. 3/4 plate tintype measuring 7" x 5". Tinted image showing a man with a watch fob in the front of his vest and a gold ring on his little finger. His left leg is amputated (the tin is reversed). He sits in front of a treadle sewing machine with a name "Leslie" on the iron legs. The case to the sewing machine is lying on the floor. The machine was manufactured by the National Sewing Machine Co. of Belvedere, Il., which was previously based in Chicago. It was a joint effort of the June Manufacturing Co. and Eldridge Sewing Machine Co. They moved to Belvedere in 1886 and became National in 1890. E. $750
